Say Balls to Trump Banner Project and March
13 July, 2018 @ 1:30 pm - 5:00 pm
This project was created by the June 2018 Late Night Knitty Lock-in knitters, who came up with a plan to bring our craft, our friendships and our values together in a project to make a banner. Their idea was to express our rejection of the fear, hate and and conflict of Donald Trump in stitches, and then to march together under the banner when he visits London on Friday 13 July 2018. The knitters worked out a patchwork which everyone could contribute to. One month on and almost all the patches have been made and now spell out our special message: “East London Knitters Say Balls To Trump”. So what happens next?
- On Sunday 8 July, 1.00-5.00pm Knit with Attitude will host a great Sewing-up Party. Everyone is invited to join in and help sew the rectangles together to complete the patchwork.
- On Thursday 12 July, you can join the crafters at Fabrications Craft Night to help sew the finished patchwork onto a fabric backing and turn it into a banner.
- On Friday 13 July at 1.30pm we will all gather under the banner in Cavendish Square W1 (just behind John Lewis Oxford Street), and make our way to Portland Place to join the main protest march at 2pm. Everyone is welcome!
More information about the march is available on the Together Against Trump Facebook Page
