Fair Isle Weekend

This book is available to pre-order. Orders will be shipped during the week beginning 19 October 2010.

Fair Isle Weekend takes you on an exciting trip to Fair Isle, a windswept island north of Shetland, famous for giving its name to traditional colourwork knitting. Since visiting the island, Mary Jane became fascinated by the island’s rich textile traditions.  This collection forms the culmination of a period of learning about techniques and patterns, stories and history. And it forms the basis for an imaginary weekend trip to Shetland when a carry-on bag is all you can take with you.

“So I invite you to join us, this small band of traveling friends, sharing a little glimpse of the isle from my outsider’s perspective. I offer you a small collection in my own style of Fair Isle knitting, which I hope honors the tradition, even though my work isn’t especially traditional.”
