Learn to Thrum a pair of Mittens

Knitting doesn’t get much cosier than this!

A thrum is a whisp of unspun woollen fluff and thrumming is the traditional  art of working thrums into your gloves and slippers to create an extra warm and and ridiculously cuddly layer inside

Join Wendy Peterson for this one-off festive treat-filled class.

During the class you will make a miniaturised version of Wendy’s Christmas thrummed mittens – using all the techniques needed for full sized versions, just in a smaller form and perfect for decorating trees and mantle pieces.

The techniques covered will include:

    • Increases: Make 1 left and Make 1 right

    • Working in the round with dpns or magic loop or 2 circulars

    • Different cuff options: Ribbing or Notched foldover hem

    • Different cord options: Try out an icord machine or twist your own.

Each participant will receive:

    • A special festive Mini-Mittens kit containing enough yarn and fluff for a pair of mini-mittens plus the Mini-Mittens pattern and a Christmas treat

    • Pattern for the adult-size thrummed mittens

Experience Needed

This class is suitable for on-the-way knitters who can confidently cast on, cast-off and knit small circumferences in the round.
