Tukuwool Fingering is a soft and airy rustic 4ply 2 stranded woollen spun yarn from Finland. It has a tight twist for a woollen spun yarn and softens and blooms beautifully after washing. It lends itself beautifully to colour work, creating a filled out and coherent fabric. Because of the air pockets in woollen spun yarn, it also works across a range of airy to dense fabric gauges.

Its air filled construction also gives it a very generous yardage per skein compared to a worsted spun yarn making it extra economical. One skein is enough for a pair women’s mittens. A medium size sweater needs about 5 – 7 skeins depending on the size and fitting.

This yarn is not superwash treated so we recommend hand washing and drying flat. The manufacturers also point out that wool repels dirt naturally and recommend regular airing in cold air between washes to extend the life of the garment. On frosty mornings you may find us laying out our favourite sweaters in the garden! However, always wash sweaters before you store them for the summer as moths tend to enjoy a little gravy with their yarn…
