This yarn is sold in units of 50g. For orders of 300g or more, we will send the wool on the cone. If you prefer to have your guernsey wool wound into separate 100g balls, please tick the box above.

Guernsey wool is tightly worsted spun yarn with a special 5 ply construction that holds an important place in British knitting history and folklore - as the traditional yarn used to make the eponymous legendary fisherman’s sweaters that were worn by the fisherfolk up and down the coastal areas of the British Isles.

Whilst the yarn has the meterage of a standard DK, it's characteristic tight spin, makes it suited to knitting at a much tighter (32 stitch) gauge, to create hard wearing pill-free, fabric with a density that can see off both wind and water. The yarn gives great stitch definition in both cable and texture stitches and will keep its good looks for years to come.

Our Frangipani Guernsey 5ply is spun and dyed in Yorkshire in the same mills that have been spinning British wool for generations. Frangipani is a family-run business based in Helston, Cornwall.
