Spun in Yorkshire from the fleece of British BFL flocks, this yarn is a heavy aran with a worsted spin and a 4ply construction. So it has lustre from the sheep’s characteristic long-wool, and a smoothness from the spin. Undyed and not super-wash treated, the softness you feel in this yarn is solely down to the Bluefaced Leicester used to make it. Unlike its better known shorter-staple-length cousins such as Merino and Corriedale, the BFL has a durability that protects it against extreme bobbling.
West Yorkshire Spinners are a family run business, firmly rooted in the worsted spinning traditions of the area. All their yarns are spun from British fleece, at their mill in the Aire Valley. By working closely with local sheep farmers and wool merchants they created their 100% BFL Fleece range to champion British wool and its place in our textile heritage.
