Description
Ulysse is the lightest in the De Rerum Natura stable of yarns: a sport weight yarn with a 2 ply, rounded structure making it perfect for showing off cables, lace or miles of plump stocking stitch. The woollen-spun twist traps a good deal of air amongst the fibres, creating generous yardage for its weight and an unusally versatility in terms of gauge range, from gap-free light-weight fabric at 20 stitches/10cm, to firmer denser knitting at 24 stitches/10cm.
Change your needle size to vary the gauge as follows (all numbers are approximate):
24 st x 38 rows to 10cm on 3 mm needles
22 st x 34 rows to 10cm on 3,5 mm needles
20 st x 30 rows to 10 cm on 4mm needles.
Ulysse is a blend of white maco merinos descended from the Merino D'arles and Merino Rambouillet breeds. They are raised in the Alps of Haute-Provence, and their wool is blended with fleece from black merinos recently introduced in the Creuse. The fleece of these Maco Merinos is carded and spun using traditional techniques and equipment at the Rougnat spinning mill.
