It was on a search for the perfect tweed that we discovered this 4ply beauty from Studio Donegal in Ireland. It's a 2 stranded woollen spun 4ply, with all the character of old-school tweedy wool but with an unexpectedly soft handle on account of the 100% lambswool fibre. Darnie's toothiness makes it a particularly good choice for cabled sweaters and garments that want a structured finish. It is also a good choice for those who might find traditional colour work yarns a little too rustic for their tastes.

The woollen spin gives the yarn an airiness which lends itself to being very versatile gauge-wise. This means it's as comfortable being knit at a generous 22-23 stitch sport-weight gauge as the more standard 26-28 stitch 4ply gauge.
