Description

João is a light DK weight single ply yarn, made in Rosa Pomar’s signature rustic style from the wool of Portuguese merino sheep, a native breed found in the south of Portugal, mainly in the Alentejo.
Minimally processed to preserve the character of the yarn so you may find traces of the plants that the sheep has brushed against as it browses the hillsides.The yarn has a characterful uneven slubbiness which adds interest to even the simplest project. Knitters will need to handle the yarn with care as it can tear where the thread is at its thinnest. In the event of breaks, the yarn can easily be spliced together again with a quick rub between hot hands.
