Kalinka Linen

Description

This 4ply/sport weight Swedish yarn is made from 100% linen in a vivd array of colours from vibrant jewel shades to soft pastels which all share an astonishing glow due to the light reflective surface of the linen.
In contrast to wool, linen has no 'give' in it, and consequently is rather harder on the hands as you knit. But this extra effort is more than rewarded by the lightness and suppleness of the fabric you create, making it a super summer yarn for shawls, lightweight cardigans, t-shirts and vest tops.
In the first instance the yarn will feel crisp and even slightly stiff in the skein. This changes as you break it in by winding, knitting, washing and wearing it. So over time knitted linen will become softer and softer. A cool linen t-shirt top can easily become a summer staple in any wardrobe due to its ease of care and wearability.
We recommend washing on a cold or normal machine cycle followed by agressive blocking or pressing with a hot iron, as this will have a transformational affect on irregular stitches and fit.
