A proper hefty aran weight blend from West Yorkshire Spinners that has a special appeal for knitters who've had enough of working with multiple strands of woolly-this plus a strand of mohair-that. This is wool plus alpaca plus mohair so it's got warmth, drape and fluff all in a single strand (albeit triple plied). The combination of alpaca and twist in the body of the yarn, means the thread is not overly bulky, but the fluff from the mohair will tolerate a loose-ish gauge if you want that light-diffusing thing between the stitches. Whatever the case the mohair makes sure that your stitches acquire their own fluffy coat as you knit.
One ball is enough for a beanie, 2 for a balaclava and 3 for a hood.
West Yorkshire Spinners are a family run business, firmly rooted in the the worsted spinning and textitle traditions of the area. All their yarns are spun from British fleece, at their mill in the Aire Valley. By working closely with local sheep and alpaca farmers they are championing British wool and its place in our textile heritage.
