Stranded Colourwork knitting Intermediate

Stranded Colourwork knitting

You’ve mastered casting on and knitting and purling. It’s time to explore where you can take patterning with colour.

Stranded colourwork also known fairisle knitting, is the knitted art of creating repeating motifs in different colours – with a rich heritage of traditional designs from Scotland, Scandinavia, Japan and Peru, that continue to fuel exciting new work in modern knitwear collections.

This class will guide you through the fundamentals of stranded colourwork.
You will learn how to:

join in new colours

weave in ends as you knit

switch from colour to colour

catch floats

manage yarn tension

factor colour dominance into your work

We will also discuss ways to approach combining colours in bigger projects.

During the class you will knit a colourwork swatch which you can use as a coaster.

Yarn and needles will be available.
