Next Steps
Join Helen Reed (AKA The Wool Kitchen) for a game-changing trip back across the right side of your knitting from left to right.
Purling backwards decreases the pressure on your hands whilst you purl giving a more ergonomic and comfortable way to create stocking stitch fabric. It can also help to create a more even tension for knitters who tend to ‘row out’ on their purl rows.
In this two hour workshop, you will learn how to knit up and down rows WITHOUT turning your work. We will learn and practice the purling backwards technique with both the left hand and the right hand. This makes it suitable for both (continental-style) pickers & (English-style) throwers.
This technique is ideal for patterns that call for short rows or small amounts of knitting backwards and forwards (think soft toys and baby booties). Over time, this will give you the confidence to use both hands when knitting which helps with colourwork and stranded knitting.
This workshop is suitable for any knitters who are comfortable with casting on, knitting and purling.
