Making Short Rows Make Sense Intermediate

Making Short Rows Make Sense

Why do we use them? Where do we put them? and How do we work them? Join Wendy Peterson for a fascinating workshop that will help you make sense of Short Rows.

In this class you will learn:

  • The short row methods you might come across in knitting patterns, and what to do if you want to use a different method.
  • Particular issues with sweater fit, and how you can use short rows to fix them.
  • How to read your knitting so you can always work out where you are when you’re working a short row section.
  • Options for adding short rows when you have other shaping and pattern changes to work at the same time.
  • Finally, we’ll touch on using short rows to create beautiful colourwork.

We’ll be getting hands on with yarn and needles, but also making simple drawings and paper models to gain a real understanding of how short rows affect knitted fabric. We will turn flat knitting three dimensional, and see how you can use short rows to create striking colourwork without ever using more than one colour in a row.
