Think unmercerised silk, a smooth cottony yarn with the characteristic drape of silk with a subtle lustre. Made in Portugal of characterful silk noil,  this yarn is perfect for summer tops and shawls, or any project that needs a silky lift.

Madragoa is spun from silk noil, the short fibres taken from silkworm cocoons – either fibres that are naturally shorter or fibres broken by emerging silk moths, as opposed to the more shiny continuous filament length of silken silk. These shorter silk noil fibres have a low lustre, matte texture with a silky fall and drape. The yarn is considerably easier to knit with than the shinier filamental silk.
