From steps to curves: Shaped Intarsia
28 April @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
£75.00Shaped intarsia is a new technique that smoothes the pixelated edges of traditional intarsia designs. Where traditional intarsia gives you steps, shaped intarsia makes a curved line, opening up a whole raft of new design possibilities.
Join Wendy Peterson, intarsia addict and founder of YarnSub, to learn the foundations of the technique, and ideas of where you can go next with it.
During the class you will make a technique swatch and learn the necessary stitches to create the different shapes.
Yarn and needles will be provided but if you would rather work with your own needles, please bring a set of 4mms or the size you usually use for DK yarn.
You will also receive a copy of Ziggy, a shaped intarsia hat pattern, so you can continue using the technique at home!
Required Skills:
As shaped intarsia builds on traditional intarsia techniques, you must have some experience of intarsia knitting — but you don’t need to be an expert! If you want to brush up on your skills beforehand, consider taking Wendy’s Intarsia from the Beginning class first.
